Gaia Technologies becomes largest IT supplier for Welsh Schools
“We were extremely impressed by Gaia Technologies’ enthusiasm for assisting our schools in
their IT requirements. Even more important to us was their passion for making improvements and
developing the service to enable schools to fully embrace the IT challenges of the age” said
Councillor Russell George, Powys’ Board Portfolio Holder for ICT & Customer Services
Gaia Technologies understand the importance of delivering a first class support contract. The
company is committed to providing a combination of remote management with dedicated
engineering visits on a regular scheduled basis, together with on- site call out visits to address
urgent matters.
“However, it is our added- value features that are likely to attract much of the attention of the
county’s schools” says Gaia Managing Director, Anas Mawla. “For example, through our Schools
Managed Service we can help schools to replace aged machines with state of the art equipment –
and to do this at no greater support/investment cost than they are currently paying”.
“The schools that Gaia support are able to avail themselves of not only totally new equipment
throughout, but also new ideas and new IT- based learning tools. Many of our current schools are
flagship schools in the use of IT which has had proven benefits to staff and pupil motivation and
which has enormously enriched the learning process”.
“ The Powys contract clearly seals our position as the largest provider of IT support,
in Wales, with almost 150 Welsh schools and colleges now supported on a daily basis.”
“We are completely committed to work in partnership with local authorities and others to progress
the IT agenda in Welsh schools. We can see huge benefits in terms of education and skill
outcomes, as well the ultimate contribution to overall economic development” added Mr Mawla
“ The level of service, the state of the equipment, and the degree of consultation provided to our
schools are all of critical importance to us. We are confident that the private sector, and Gaia
Technologies in particular, is an excellent way to upgrade and improve the service that our schools
receive” said Councillor Russell George, Powys’ Board Portfolio Holder for ICT & Customer
Services.
